Family

29/11
Today we went to the yuyuan garden which is a beautiful traditional garden with Shanghai's first tea house.
To get there we walked through the old shanghai.
It is a really cool area where people hang the clothes they wash in the streets. You have a lot of local small restaurants and you can buy a lot of food on the streets.
We went back to pudong which is on the other side of the river. Here we went to a very big market where you can buy a lot of really cheap/very good quality things. Off course they have the fake shit here as well but the quality of it is really good and it is so damn cheap.
We had dinner at a chinese muslim restaurant with belly dancers performing. Alex, Elisa and Mozart came along.

28/11
My family met me at the office and we went out for lunch with the staff where I work. We went to Grandmothers which is one of my favorite chinese lunch restaurants here.
In the afternoon we went to pudong to get up in the third tallest building in the world, the pudong tower. Good view but very foggy.
We had dinner with my flat mate Denise at the brazilian restaurant Latina, where you get all the meat you can eat. Really like that place.

27/11
My parents came today a couple of hours later than expected. They got screwed big time in the taxi on the way from the airport and payed atleast 5 times the regular price. It was partly because of the trafffic and because the chinese driver was a lousy cheater.
After arriving and getting into the rooms we went to a chinese foot court where you can look at all the dishes before you chose.

One week since my last posting

I can see that it has been a week since my last posting so I thought it would be time for a little update... Wouldn't wanna disappoint all my fans.. ;o)
Actuall I have a tracking device now that can tell me how many visitors I have on my website and where in the world they are entering it from... So keep looking at it!!

Tomorrow my parents and my brother will arrive. That is going to be very nice!

Here is an update from last week here.

26/11
I found a place to play arcade games and I just love Metal slug so I spent a couple of hours completing Metal slug 4. Besides that I prepared some work and watched a movie.

25/11
What's better than spending a saturday night with your friends at a japanese all you can eat and drink restaurant...
I just fu..... love saké

We ended up at the funniest bar ever. I never in my life seen so many ugly european men hooking up with chinese girls. You could close your eyes, spin around, point and than handpick them... haha. Picture this: white tennis socks, boring jeans, beer belly, long ugly black beard, lousy old t'shirt and geeky glasses. That's the recipe of one of the most popular guys at the bar. When he left the bar the girl he was kissing stayed to my surprise.. but when he entered the taxi he was accompanied by another chinese girl... fun what money can buy... haha.

24/11
Today I went out to clean up the venue.
I must say that that 42Below vodka is going to kill me...haha. It is so good.. You don't put around 25% alcohol in your drinks...you put 75% alcohol in the drinks instead and the funny thing is you can't taste it...

23/11
We started at 09 in the morning with getting ready for the party.
The venue was Island 6 the beautiful art gallery.

Our bar

Anita And I. Sebastian was in Beijing but his girlfriend Anita showed up.

42Below

Shaking cocktails

I had invited all my flatmates. Alessio came along as well.

Andreas was also present at the party. This picture is taken outsite the venue on the way home. Phil, Ben, Marty, Andreas, Anita and I.

22/11
Party preparation day
We made unique cards (creditcard size) for all of the guests and had them delivered by courier the next day.
Long day at work. One of the machines for making the cards broke down and we weren't finished before ten at night. But damn they look really prof.

21/11
Had a massage today at a place where only blind people work... They should be very good at massaging and rumor has it that places where people can actually see are more likely to offer you a happy ending...haha and I only needed a maasage...
I have bought three copies of the new 007 movie but two copies only had russian sound and one version was the old flick in a new cover so I still need to see it..

20/11
Had chinese with Cindy
Got a haircut... Off course I had to visit Para Para to see what they were about.

Met Alex for dinner afterwards. We ate at a nice local Chinese restaurant.

pictures from 18/11 + 19/11

Dinah, Alex and I at the creative Bazar.

Astrid met us for the concert with Robin Gibb and later we went out to the club where we danced on the bar to the early morning.

The small street neighborhood Elisa and I found.

Walking down the train tracks

Crazy way to work. The workers were hand loading and emptying the ship. One person was doing nothing besides looking after all the workers. They were really working hard and fast, carrrying 60 stones in each arm at the time. One stone has the approximately weight of half a kilo...

Crazy traffic

19/11 - 06

Sightseeing day
As every other sunday Elisa and I go sight seeing. Today we went to two cool chinese temples. On the way back we walked through the coolest chinese area walking on a railway trail. We got to a neighborhood where the streets between the house were around half a meter wide. We could see through the windows to see how the chinese live. It was really interesting. Two things I will never eat here is pig tail and pig nose.
we ended the day with eating thai food with Mozart and Alessio.

18/11 - 06

Happy birthday MOM...

Today I went with Dinah and Alex to a creative Bazar. Basically a bazar for high quality junk only affordable for xpads... It was located at an art museum. I met sebatian again who was there with a cool photographer he knows.
Later we met up with Alex's friend Robin, my friend Astrid from sweden and her friend Dave from the UK to go to a concert with Robin Gibb from the Bee Gees.
And what a BURN OUT.... I'll give the concert 2,3. He had the coolest 30 person big orchestra with everything from violins to back up singers but his could not keep up with it. The backup singers sang all the high notes and he was just dull in his appearance, the music wasn't loud enough and they ended up playing staying alive 2 times in 15 minutes.
We ended the evening at a nice bar and disko where we danced on the bar and had free tequila shots.

17/11 - 06

Going out:
At one of my many visits to a japanese all you can eat restaurant I met Heidi and Morten from Denmark. This night I met up with Heidi to go to an event called Danish friday. Many of the Danes in Shanghai gathered at the Blue frog for drinks and food and a nice chat. I had a really nice time and spoke to some really interesting Danes with vary different jobs here in China.

What I have been up to the last couple of days.

16/11
Today it is raining for the first time... damn...and it is getting colder...damn damn damn.....
We went to see the venue for next friday's party...sweet place.
Had chinese with Cindy, sales meeting with the boys from CS which turned into a visit at Larry's a nice upper-class bar for lots of champagne... Yes believe it or not I actually drank Champagne... And more than one glass..

15/11
Today we finally send the proposal for Peppes. It will be interesting to see how he likes it.
I made a brief introduction to the five steps of my workshop.
I have chosen to work with a proactive approach because it gives ConfuciusSays a chance to decide where they would like to take the bizz and where they would preferably see the company in the future.
It also gives the staff a really good, visual idea of all the aspects in the company.
We will work with our strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats, company vision, core values and from that create an action plan.

This evening I met with Phil, Anita (sebastian's girl friend) my danish friend Andreas at Logo bar where my other friend DJ Tootecool (Sebastian) was playing. They play electronic this evening he spiced it with a live jazz musician represented by Phil's friend JQ

14/11
For ConfuciusSays I have decided to create proactive thinking/approach process. It is divided it to the 5 steps we will complete before I leave the company the 14 of dec.
It will map the different aspects of the company and end with us making an action plan for the company.
I spend the day on preparing the process.

At night I went out for brazilian with my flatmies; mozart, Denise, Elisa and our friends Alessio and Melissa.

13/11 - 06

Ideas for concepts for 42Below parties. We had each prepared 3 and from these suggestions we chose three different themes in three very different locations. All three parties will be carried out before I leave this xmas.
First one is the 24 of november and if everything goes according to the plan it will be a place without walls where you have a beautiful view....

12/11 - 06

Sunday we went on our usual sightseeing tour. Elisa, Alex and I took off to some old town about an hour away... still need to find out the name of the place..hehe wasn't that interesting..or though we actually saw a fight between two small animals I cannot remember the name of right now... what an interesting story when I can't even get my own facts straight... haha

11/11 - 06

Apartment:
off course I woke up early from noise from upstairs and being half sick and in a grumpy mood I went up there 5 times, yelling really loud in english explaining the workers they are not allowed to work in the weekends. I even brought the security and in the end I nearly stole all their tools.
In the end I was too kind as always.. I let them work after they promised me they would be done after the weekend and they would start later the upcoming days.. did they keep that promise...hell no... two days later they started at fucking 7 o clock making more noise than ever... Enough of this being kind...

Night out:
I met Alex for a short while. we bought a couple of dvds for the collection.
Than I went home to sleep for a couple of hours before my roomates and I went to a japanese all you can eat restaurant where we had lots of food and plenty of sake... love that hot shit..
Off course we played the drinking game Mozart taught us at our last visit to a japanese restaurant. Same as last time, the effect was that we got everybody drunk... and than we went out to a disco called Park 97 where they had live music and a cool dj..
All this for only 100rmb /75kr... aint life great....

10/11 - 06

Stayed in my bed all day trying to get better.. watched probably around 6 movies today.. had to cancel the poker game.. damn flu...

9/11 - 06

Had to leave work early to go home to sleep... damn flu...

8/11 - 06

Highlight of today.. Went to an korean restaurant where you get all the dishes raw at the table and you cook them on a kind of hot plate/pan.

7/11 - 06..and not the convenience store..

Shoe polishing:
today I had my shoes polished... well I didn't need it but a guy stopped me on the street and put shoe polisher on my shoes before I could stop him. Than he followed me untill I stopped and he pretended he would take it of but instead he finished polishing my shoes and than he wanted money. He asked for an outrageous amount and I ended up paying him a small amount just to get rid of him.. shouldn't have paid him though..

Traffic:
Here in china at all the major intersections they have a traffic guard standing at every corner making sure that pedestrians stay on the sidewalk until they have a green light. It is pretty funny to see these traffic guards blowing thier whistles shouting at people.

Jeans:
What I learned here is that sometimes when you bargain for the prices as a foreign you should probably pay about half of the amount they start out asking for. so today I got a really cool pair of good quality jeans for the price of 110rnb / 82kr which is still a little too much to pay..if you go the right places.

Apartment:
I'm so fat up with all the noise coming from the apartment upstairs.

7/11 - 06

Just a quick thing.. I like getting comments on my blog but if you ask me a question in that comment don't forget to write your email in that comment so I can reach you. Thanks.

Chinese lesson number two 6/11 - 06

Today at work we started evaluating saturdays party and we'll continue the next couple of days. I like being in charge of the morning meetings or though it is only for half an hour every morning..

Today I had my chinese lesson number something with cindy. And I have called the header for chinese lesson number two however that is because you are going to learn something if you continue reading..
I'm writing in pin ying since I can't write the signs..and also in chinese the have different ways to show how to pronounce the words which I cannot write on this keyboard.. but this should give you a little taste..
wo shi.. (your name)
wo qu youju ji xin
wo shi danmairen
wo shi waiguo liuxuesheng
wo qu maidanglao.
wo xihuan hanbaobao
That's it for now.. it is all things about me. Things I am, things I have done and things I do often...

Pictures from 4/11 - playing with mirrors

something I enjoy everytime I see loads of mirrors. Some turn out nice and well some kind of... :o)

like a local: This is the food stand he got to com in the middle of the night just to serve us..

5/11 - 06

Was very tired after last night.. and off course I woke up again ten hours too early from noise in our building..getting really fat up with that shit...
Went to see a local typical chinese temple with my roomy Elisa and her friend Alex.
After enjoying a movie in the afternoon Elisa and I went to thecoolest brazilian restaurant where you get all you can eat plus drinks and desert. They staff will come to your table and cut out the meat for you. It is an overfload of extremely well tasting meat from cows, pigs and sheeps... loved it...

4/11 - 06

Today I went around the area I live in in the opposite direction of what I usual do when I go to the metro. It is a really cool area.. I ended up at a nice cheap shoping mall where I bought another pair af shoes and a pair of jeans.. great quality, even better price.. :o)
One of the shoes I bought had been miscollared from being on display and they wouldn't give me an aditional discount.. but it was still cheap so I just went home and washed it and now it is as ggood as new..

This night we had the first 42below party since I have arrived. It was at a cool venue, A musseum turned into a bar and area to sit outsite. We had a dancefloor with a DJ and I was in the bar all night serving delicious cocktails.
The flavors from 42below (like the passion fruit, kiwi, feijoa, and the manuka honey vodka) are really unique and when you mix them with different ingredients like ginger sirup, lemongrass sirup, kiwi, watermelon and cucumber you get some really brilliant strong cocktails that will knock you down..hehe. So I felt when I started mixing my own private cocktails in the end of the party..fucking great.... :o)

3/11 - 06

Today I spoke with my best friend from back home on the phone and online for the first time since I have arrived here... Wierd to not talk to someone for two and a half week when you are used to seeing that person nearly every fucking day.. :o)
Fun to hear all the things that have been going on..hehe but I must say it is a constant hazzle with him to keep people on my side..hehe..

Later I met with Alex. We wnet to buy shoes at a really cool local skater shop. On the way I finally found a place to buy cheap cd's here. However the quality is not at all as good as when you buy the dvds... Bought 6 cds, half of them won't play... all I can do is :o) ... and think well this is china... I another day I wanted to refill my metro card and the lady behind the counter wouldn't except my coins and wouldn't tell me why (I wouldn't be able to understand anyway :o), but she didn't at all tried, she just pushed the money back... again I could just smile and say well this is china..

2/11 - 06

Through my landlord Lee I have met Dinah; a nice chinese girl who speaks eglish very well. She took me around town to eat at a little local chinese/western joint.. I got my own plate and for the first time in two and a half week I got a knife and fork as well... :o) I nearly used them like chopsticks..haha

01/11 - 06

today I met with Cindy at my apartment to have my 3 chinese lesson... By now I know have to say the dog goes to the park and the old man goes to the post office to post a letter... At some point I'll write it down so you can start practicing.

For dinner my roomates and I went to this great japanese restaurant where you get all you can eat and drink for 88rmb / 65kr / 11dollars. We spend 4 hours drinking sake (a nice Japanese alcohol you drink as heated up shots) and eating like crazy.. I had 8 dishes.. 2 of them were not in my mind eatable though.. It was supposed to be chicken..well and it kind of was but it was chicken bones on a stick and the other dish was chicken grease on a stick. But I had three different fish and they were just amazing.
